Meet Anne Duggan

Major: Business Economics

I took Corporate Finance with Ivo last semester and really enjoyed him as a professor. I thought his style was unique and the content was the most applicable material I have learned in college. I knew that a thesis with Ivo would challenge me to learn about more than I could in a traditional thesis. With no one particular topic, I have the opportunity to learn about a range of different topics. I love the options because I am interested in so many different things. One of the greatest parts about this thesis is that I have to chance to get interested in topics I didn't even know about or think I would like. In addition, I loved that the project was in a team. With other people helping me develop my ideas and papers, I can grow so much more.

With so many papers to write, I hope to get a wide range of topics that will help expand my mind to what types of issues people are thinking about.

I recently accepted a job with Morgan Stanley in the Investment Banking Division headed in New York City. I plan to stay within the business world, but am currently just looking to gain experience and knowledge that will help me develop a more concise career plan.

I am big into sports. I have played varsity lacrosse during my 4 years at college and have written on the school news paper as a sports writer. My goal is to run a marathon soon, which should be tricky given the surgery I had in May on my knee. Besides sports I enjoy reading historical novels. While I majored in economics, I love history and find the past fascinating because it is so different from our world today. When I am not doing either of those activities, I like to travel and do exciting new things. I love cats, but due to the dorm situation don't have one. I currently reside with my 3 fish Todd, Jose and Eduardo at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. I originally am from Weston, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston.
